This fun, charity match is between Peacehaven & Telscombe FC coaches and Newhaven FC coaches and this year will be staged at the Unibet Arena.
Traditionally there has always been a friendly rivalry and respect between the two clubs. Although the match between the two sets of coaches is billed as a fun game of football, it does have a serious side.
This year the game is a fundraiser for Diabetes UK.
Organiser and Peacehaven third team and under 18 manager Rob Thomsett (pictured) said: “We are playing the game in aid of Diabetes UK. The reason why I wanted to raise funds for this charity is because my god daughter was struck down ill last year and she nearly lost her life.”
He continued: “After various tests they realised that she had Type One diabetes. The support the charity gave her to get her back on her feet was amazing and it was because of their tireless support and help she began to feel normal again.”
Entry to the game free. There will be giant raffle with around 50 prizes all of which have been donated by local businesses. All the proceeds from this and a bucket collection on the night will go to the charity.
If you would like to donate to the charity, Rob has set up a Just Giving page. Paste the following link into your browser and you will be taken straight there: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/robert-thomsett3
Come along and cheer on your team’s coach. The game is on Friday March 23 and the kick-off is at 7.30pm. The clubhouse will be open.
