PEACEHAVEN & TELSCOMBE suffered a 1-0 defeat in their opening league game against promoted East Preston on Saturday.
The visitors made several changes from Tuesday’s defeat against Newhaven including the return to the club of popular defender Felipe Lira (pictured).
Peacehaven were the first to show as they came close on four minutes and had the best of the early exchanges.
On 11 minutes Sanded was called into action in the Haven goal with a good low save. Five minutes later Coner Sidwell hit the side netting after good work from Marshall.
After half an hour, East Preston had settled and were starting to press, but the visitors looked more comfortable on the ball.
On 35 minutes, Josh Marshall received a harsh caution as it appeared he had won the ball cleanly from a tackle.
With six minutes left of the first half East Preston took the lead through Oliver Stevenson. A free kick was crossed in, the ball was cleared but landed at Stevenson’s feet and he hooked it over Sanded.
The second half saw Haven pushing for an equaliser and a flurry of Peacehaven substitutes still could not produce the desired goal.
The next game is on Tuesday evening when Peacehaven are home against Eastbourne Utd. The game kicks-off at 7.45. Entry is £6 for adults and £4 for over 65s. Under 18s get in for free.
Peacehaven & Telscombe: Sanded, Wiltshire (Cam), Sidwell, Lira, Massen, Dinnage, Legrange, Adams, Marshall, Levy, Lloyd. Subs: Golds, Wiltshire (Cal), Aga, Richmond, Nelson.
