Freddie sings for cancer on Saturday

By Pitchside View

TWELVE –YEAR old Freddie Allen will be performing live in the clubhouse on Saturday to raise funds for a cancer charity.

Freddie, a pupil at Peacehaven Community School and the brother of Peacehaven defender Marcus Allen, will be performing a selection of cover versions accompanying himself on guitar between 5pm and 6pm straight after Saturday’s game against Arundel.

He decided to raise funds for the Sussex Cancer Centre which is funded by the Sussex Cancer Fund, after taking up his school’s Tenner Challenge. The challenge was to raise as much money from an initial outlay of £10 and then keep the profits. But kind-hearted Freddie has chosen to donate his profits to charity.

Freddie’s dad Kevin said: “Freddie was inspired to raise funds for the charity after losing his grandad to cancer when he was only 61. And then just before Christmas his godmother, who was only 44 died from this awful disease.”

As a result of this terrible life experience he decided to raise money to help local people who might be unfortunate enough to suffer from this in the future.

Kevin Allen concluded: “He’s got ten songs lined up, he is just 12-years old and I’m not sure where he gets his confidence from but he’s really excited to do this so hopefully a few people will stay to watch and donate if they wish.”

You can donate via Freddie’s Just Giving page, or simply give what you can afford on Saturday. Well done Freddie!
