Haven go down at Arundel

2 months ago By Pitchside View

PEACEHAVEN & TELSCOMBE lost 5-2 away to lowly Arundel on Saturday.

They went into the game expecting to come away with something from the third from bottom side. But it wasn’t to be.

They also gave debuts to John Gbla, John Elliot and a full debut to South African striker Nick Mynhardt.

A hat trick for Arundel’s Ben Gray, put paid to Haven’s hopes of gleaning anything from the dogged West Sussex side.

Peacehaven did create a number of good chances but went into the break 3-1 down after Curt Ford (pictured) had pulled a goal back with a smart header.

It only took the hosts three minutes in the second period to wrap things up when James Thurgar notched to make it 4-1 and game over. Haven did rally and substitute Tyler Scrafton pulled one back from close range to give Peacehaven a glimmer of hope. But Arundel wrapped it up in the 88th minute when Gray got his third from the spot.

Peacehaven drop one place in the league standings to seventh place. They are next in action on Tuesday evening when they away to Steyning in the Peter Bentley Cup.

Peacehaven & Telscombe: Secka, Legrange, Kilula, Gbla, Elliott, Massen, Grant, Lira, Cheeseman, Ford, Mynhardt Subs: Richmond, Burton, Lloyd, Brocklebank, Scrafton.
