Haven hit five to get the New Year off with a bang

By Pitchside View

TEN MAN Peacehaven & Telscombe romped home to a 5-2 away win on Saturday against Little Common.

Peacehaven raced into a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes with goals from Brandon Kilula (pictured), Jake LeGrange and Callum Hart and looked like they had the game sewn up.

With just five minutes played, defender Kilula put the ball home after Ryan in the home goal spilled from a corner. And then just four minutes later LeGrange burst into the box and fired low past the keeper with a well taken finish to double Haven’s lead.

It was 3-0 on 20 minutes when top scorer Hart made the most of poor defending to fire home from the edge of the box.

Little Common showed they still meant business and pulled a goal back on 33 minutes when Lewis Parsons headed in at the back post. And just five minutes later, the home side were back in the game when Lewis Hole headed home. Could Haven be in the process of throwing the game away?

Just after the goal was scored Le Grange picked up a yellow card for dissent and this was to be his undoing as on 50 minutes he picked up a second yellow card and he was off and Peacehaven were down to ten men with most of the second period still to play.

Despite Little Common’s numerical advantage the visitors still looked the more likely to score. And on 71 minutes substitute Gus Burton, now back in the frame after suspension, showed his worth and value to the team as he made it 4-2 with a lovely lobbed finish.

Hart rounded off the scoring with his second and Haven’s fifth with ten minutes still to play to record Peacehaven’s highest goals scored in a game this season.

In the dying minutes of the game a Little Common player received his marching orders after receiving a second yellow. It’s fair to say this wasn't the best game but Haven took their chances well and deserved the points.

Peacehaven are still in tenth place in the league and are part of a group of six teams all covered by just two points. Who is going to get the January jitters first?

Peacehaven are next in league action on Tuesday evening when they are away to East Preston in a re-arranged game.

Peacehaven & Telscombe: Secka, Kilula, Peskett, Wiltshire (Cam), Lira, Gibla, Le Grange, Cheeseman, Richmond, Tyrell, Hart. Subs: Baker, Burton, Croydon, Edwards, Langam.

The next game at The Sports Park sees the Under 23s take on Little Common Under 23s on Monday evening. Kick-off 7.45pm.
