Peacehaven go down at East Preston

By Pitchside View

PEACEHAVEN & TELSCOMBE endured a frustrating evening in West Sussex on Tuesday evening.

Prior to the game, a minute's silence was held in honour of the passing of Bill Parris on Sunday.

When the game got underway, the hosts went in front on 21 minutes through Jake Heryet but ten minutes before half time EP’s Scott Rafferty was sent off, handing the initiative and advantage to Peacehaven.

With the home side going into the break one up, Peacehaven came out for the second period full of determination and on 47 minutes Peacehaven had what they considered to be a nailed on penalty as Jake Le Grange was bundled over in the box, but nothing was given.

On 58 minutes manager Mark Shutt, determined to get something from the game, made a triple substitution, bringing on Josh Marshall, Jake Brocklebank and Gus Burton. But with all this firepower on the field, Peacehaven still couldn’t find a way through.

Callum Hart and Marshall both went close and on 83 minutes John Elliott (pictured) went even closer when he hit a post.

With Peacehaven piling on the pressure in the closing stages searching out the elusive goal, East Preston broke and in the 93rd minute made it 2-0 through Asa Nicholson.

Peacehaven don’t have a game this weekend. They are next in action on Saturday January 19 when Horsham YMCA are the visitors to The Sports Park.

Peacehaven & Telscombe: Secka, Kilula, Lira, Massen, Elliott, Gbla, Le Grange, Wiltshire, Richmond, Cheeseman, Hart. Subs: Brocklebank, Burton, Peskett, Marhsall, Tyrell.

Peacehaven & Telscombe reserves are at home on Saturday against AFC Ringmer. Kick-off 2pm.
