The youngsters are back in action!

1 week ago By Pitchside View

THE Sports Park football pitches were alive once more as Peacehaven & Telscombe youth teams stormed back into action after the summer break.

Youth chairman and deputy chairman of Peacehaven & Telscombe FC Mike Bradbury writes:

It was great to see the Piddinghoe Avenue Sports Park pitches filled with kids enjoying Sunday football once again as yet another season kicked off.

The under sevens to under 11s play non-competitive football but it’s worth mentioning the under 11s played their first nine-a-side game and won 18-1.

Here are the results from the competitive fixtures:

Under15s
Peacehaven & Telscombe Under 15s Black drew 2-2 with Eastbourne Borough. Tim Maquire's young charges equalised with just four seconds left on the clock! And Steve Davies’ team, Peacehaven & Telscombe Under 15 Stripes drew 3-3 with Mile Oak.

Under 14s
Peacehaven & Telscombe Under 14s Black team managed by Clive Blunt won 4-1 away to ASC Strikers. And Peacehaven & Telscombe Under 14s Stripes were victorious 3-2 against Seaford Town.

The Under 14s Stripes are my team. It was an epic game. We were 1-0 up at half time after a fantastic long range belter from Freddi Du'Casse.

However, after ten minutes of the second half we found ourselves 2-1 down. With just ten minutes to go, Ethan Pearson scored a great header from a perfectly delivered Charlie Deller corner to equalise. And with only a minute to go, Jayden Tant was one on one with the Seaford keeper (who had been outstanding all day) and calmly placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net to claim the win. Total scenes.

Under 13s
Ian Brown’s Under 13 team went down 4-1 away to Lewes.

Under 12s
The Under 12s managed by Sean Collyer fought out a goal less draw at home to Stone Cross.

I’d like to thank all the managers, coaches, board members, volunteers and Peacehaven Town Council, whose hard work gives over 200 local youngsters the opportunity to play football week in week out.

We are now one of the largest youth football clubs in Sussex and it’s a joy to see all the hard work paying off every Saturday and Sunday. Here's to another enjoyable and successful season.
