And between the sending off and half time, the game was lost as the home side went into the break 2-0 down.
Up until that point, the game was even with both sides creating half chances. But when Sanded (pictured) was penalised for handling the ball outside of his area, manager Mark Shutt had to reshuffle his pack. He took off Mikey Lloyd to make room for substitute keeper, Dave Croydon.
Straight after the change Newhaven showed their intent by hitting Croydon’s bar.
On 36 minutes Henry Daly opened the scoring for the visitors and in the 46th minute Lee Robinson made it 2-0.
In the 49th minute Marcus Allen for the home side was shown a yellow card and substitute Sam Nelson was also cautioned for questioning some of the referee’s decisions.
The second half saw Peacehaven trying to get back into the game with Marshall going close and Sidwell hitting the bar.
On the 62nd minute Cam Wiltshire went into the ref’s book and not be outdone, brother Cal followed seventeen minutes later.
On 71 minutes Sam Nelson came on for Legrange to bolster the forward line. He was only on the pitch for thirteen minutes when he collided with Newhaven keeper Buss and was dismissed.
Newhaven saw the game out and now meet Lewes in the next round.
Peacehaven & Telscombe begin their league campaign on Saturday with a trip to newly promoted East Preston. The game kicks-off at 3pm.
